"Social progress can be measured by the social position of the female sex."

Chase and I have both agreed to no longer purchase from or support Urban Outfitters. Recent news has indicated that the CEO of Urban Outfitters, Richard Hayne, has donated $13,000 over the years to Rick Santorum. We have agreed that it is impossible for us to support such a corporation that uses its power and money to enforce ignorant and repulsive Republican politics, such as the campaign that is being wielded by Santorum.
While naive ideology, guided by benighted religious faith, is plaguing the current Republican primaries I think it is important to remember my individual position as a national and global citizen. I will not stand to legitimize corporations that work to perpetuate the subjugation of women and homosexuals via religious doctrines. This is how I will exercise my power regardless of how miniscule it may seem.
I hope that even such a small acknowledgement can be recognized by the public at large and can therefore be formulated into an organized civil non-violent protest. With the failing system of democracy it is now more important than ever to make our voices heard.
People should pay more attention to what they are simply “reblogging”. There seems to be a common trend of perpetuating inaccurate and illegitimate information and knowledge.
